Abstract reads : "This thesis deals with the Christology of the book of Hebrews, specifically the relationship between the Christological categories of “Son” and “high priest”. It is argued here that the rationale for the introduction of a priestly Christology has been insufficiently considered in previous scholarly work on Hebrews Furthermore, in previous studies insufficient consideration has been given to the way in which the interrelationship of the categories of sonship and priesthood functions in the rhetorical structure of Hebrews. This thesis argues that a form of “second Adam” Christology lies behind the Christological thought of Hebrews. It consequently endeavours to establish the rationale for the introduction of priestly Christology by exploring those “second Adam” ideas."

O'Brien summarises earlier talks. O'Brien shows that the new priesthood is superior because of the new priest - Jesus. He looks at the characteristics of Jesus that enable him to be our High Priest. O'Brien compares this to the Levitical High Priests. O'Brien examines the prophesies in Isaiah about the Servant of the Lord, and how these are fulfilled in Jesus. He looks at the effect of the death of the Servant of the Lord, and that this is far superior to anything else. Chapel talk Originally delivered 2003-07-24

O'Brien speaks on Hebrews 7:1-10. O'Brien looks at the use of the term 'priest'. He examines what the term means, by surveying Hebrews chapters 2-6. This includes the suffering with humanity, being in service to God, and what qualifies Jesus to be a High Priest. O'Brien examines being a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek and what it has to do with the situation of the believers in Rome. He outlines the historical context of Hebrews 7 including the possibility of the context being Nero's fire in Rome in 64 AD. O'Brien touches on each of the issues that arise for Jesus being a High Priest. Longer version of Hebrews 7 - Hebrews 7 2. Originally delivered 2003-04-10

Stace speaks on Hebrews 7. He looks at the judgement of God, and how we respond to a talk on the topic is both a measure of how we see ourselves, and how we see God. Stace explains that we need a saviour and priest in order to enjoy and delight in God's holiness. 1. Melchidek's name and character is a perfect fit to describe what Jesus is able to impart to those who have trusted in him 2. Melchizadek's permanent qualifications 3. Don't go back if the reality of Melchizedek has arrived 4. Perfection through Christ, the perfect priest 5. If we don't see God as holy, we will not see the significance of sin, the cross, his victory, and Jesus as mediator.,  ,  ,
