Reid provides an introduction to Jeremiah. He expounds Jeremiah 1-3. He compares the role of Jeremiah to that of our contemporary preachers. Second talk entitled "The unfaithful nation" exploring the sinfulness of Israel and our sin generally. Reid shows that the religious leaders did not know God, and that Israel were making alliances with the world. He calls on the audience to avoid making alliances with the world, and instead with the Spirit. Third talk on false religious confidence. Reid details why Israel had this false confidence, stressing that we need to read the whole of scripture. Reid shows that we need to be obedient to the Lord, and not follow rituals. Reid speaks on Judges 6 and the account of Gideon. He explores how the faith of Israel has been compromised by the faith of the Caananities. Reid explores God's soveriegnty, and the defective view of sin and of God held by Gideon. He uses this to explore what faith is, and the importance of placing faith in God and not in ourselves. Reid expounds Mark 11:11. He explores the theme of judgement. He explains the emphasis on prayer, especially in relation to the temple. Reid looks at Jesus' actions in the temple - healing, teaching and judgement. He highlights Mark's selection of events in the temple to show Jesus' Lordship, and the significance of the temple courtyard. Reid looks at the three principles that Jesus gives for spiritual life - faith, expectancy and love. He argues that this is the parable of the fig tree - Jesus was looking for fruit in people's lives and didn't find it.
