Dean examines the way society is wanting to remove institutions, including the church, even though it has always assisted society when it is shaken. He shows that the church is not doing it's role any more, as it can no longer speak with unity, and that the general public has picked up on this. Dean considers the challenges of having a hierarchy in denominational structures and the challenges of historical differences that still apply today. He looks at the changes in the way people think/expect from church, including from fellowship to 'worship', privatised faith v. shared faith, tradition v irrelevance. Dean looks at the way our life situation changes how we think about God, including war period v post-war period. He looks at changes that happen as people move around, and where leadership/power is found. Dean looks at the fracture in the church in the late 1990s, and the conflict between tradition and possible changes so that people come to Christ. He encourages his audience to be open to changing church structures and traditions. Talk is followed by questions., Cassette label reads : "Terry Dean"
