Street explores the responsibility of women as deacons within a church from the same passage. She particularly looks at the use of titles for those in leadership, and how they show difference between the roles of men and women.

Campbell considers why Paul calls Timothy to be a soldier, including obedience, working for their master. He challenges his listeners to consider if they are really living for Jesus or if they have gone AWOL.
