Wheeley looks at the way Israel had responded to evil in Malachi, and the way God is going to respond, both in sending a messenger, and then coming himself to bring justice. He explores who is receiving judgement, to show that everyone is being refined. Wheeley highlights God's faithfulness and unchanging character. Wheeley shows how John is the messenger and Jesus is the Lord, and how Jesus fulfills Malachi's prophesy. He compares the priests in Jesus' day to those in Malachi's, and shows how Jesus is our complete sacrifice. Wheeley challenges his listeners to consider their priorities, and whether they are putting God first.
