Series focuses on the cross of Christ. Stott explains why the cross is/was central. He looks at why Ancient Israel had not forseen this, as the scriptures foretold this. Stott highlights the ways the disciples responded to this when they came to understand it. He expounds some of the prophesies.

Stott shows that the death of Christ was not a mistake, but was a sovereign act of God, and thus must reveal God because it is something he did. Stott spells out how and why the cross points us to God's love. He looks at God's mercy in passing over sin until the death of Christ. Stott places the death of Christ in it's original context, to show how society viewed crucifixion. He uses this to show that God provided both love and justice in Christ's death, and that he is being true to his own nature.
