He looks at the way Hebrews describes Jesus' perfection as : Perfect Son of God Perfect High Priest Our perfection comes from him O'Brien shows that God's perfection comes to us through Jesus' priesthood, for it could not come through the Levitical priests. He examines why Jesus is the perfect priest that was need. O'Brien looks at the fulfillment of this perfection, and the assurance we have of getting there. He shows that we have this assurance because Jesus is alive. O'Brien looks at how Jesus helps us to persevere. Originally delivered 2003-06-05

This occurs in both the now and not yet 3. The perfection of Jesus 4. The perfection of his people He explores these themes under the following headings : 1. Perfection in priesthood 2. O'Brien looks at the use of the term 'priest'. He examines what the term means, by surveying Hebrews chapters 2-6. This includes the suffering with humanity, being in service to God, and what qualifies Jesus to be a High Priest. O'Brien examines being a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek and what it has to do with the situation of the believers in Rome. He outlines the historical context of Hebrews 7 including the possibility of the context being Nero's fire in Rome in 64 AD. O'Brien touches on each of the issues that arise for Jesus being a High Priest. Shorter version of Jesus as High Priest Part 1 Originally delivered 2003-05-29

O'Brien summarises earlier talks. O'Brien shows that the new priesthood is superior because of the new priest - Jesus. He looks at the characteristics of Jesus that enable him to be our High Priest. O'Brien compares this to the Levitical High Priests. O'Brien examines the prophesies in Isaiah about the Servant of the Lord, and how these are fulfilled in Jesus. He looks at the effect of the death of the Servant of the Lord, and that this is far superior to anything else. Chapel talk Originally delivered 2003-07-24
